About the NLIU- Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot

The NLIU-MCA takes immense pleasure in announcing that the University shall be organizing the sixth edition of our flagship event, that is, the NLIU – Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot. The moot is scheduled to take place from 05 March to 07 March 2021 (Friday to Sunday). This will be the first online edition.

The Moot and its partners

The Moot is organized annually in partnership with the Office of Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament – Mr. Vivek Tankha in the memory of late Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.K. Tankha. Jus Mundi is the Official Research Partner for the Competition and Transnational Dispute Management (TDM) is the Official Media Partner. The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and L&L Partners Law Offices (f/k/a Luthra & Luthra) are respectively our Institutional and Law Firm Partners. The National Forum for Research in Arbitration Law (NFRAL) is the Official Knowledge Partner. Awards include cash prizes to the tune of INR 2,50,000, trophies, and access to various research resources. The Case Record/Moot Problem this year has been drafted by Ms. Velislava Hristova, a Bulgarian qualified lawyer, specializing in International Arbitration.

The Moot has the distinction of being the most participated and sought-after moot in India. In the past years, the Moot has attracted participation from premier national and international universities.

Important Dates

  • Release of Case Record – 22 September 2020
  • Last Date for Provisional Registration: 16 October 2020 (Indian Teams)
  • Last Date of Registration (to be completed only after confirmation) – 7 November 2020
  • Submission of Memorial – 7 February 2020
  • Oral Rounds – 5-7 March 2021

Platform

The competition will be organized virtually through video conferencing. The details of the platform shall be notified later.

Registrations

The Registration fee for the competition is

Ø  INR 3000 for Indian Teams

Ø  USD 100 for International Teams

The institutions can register themselves, for the Competition, provisionally through their designated Moot Court Association, by sending an email of such registration to tankhamoot@nliu.ac.in.
