National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, in association with ADR-ODR InternationalLondon will be organising the 2nd edition of the NUJS Mediation Competition, 2020.

The eight-day event includes:
·         The Mediation Competition: 27th February – 1st March, 2020.
·         ADR-ODR International, London Mediation Accreditation Course: 2nd –5th March, 2020.

The Venue: National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

About the Competition

Format: The Competition shall involve three preliminary rounds followed by semi-finals and finals. Each University can send up to two teams consisting of three members each (selection of the second team is contingent on the availability of slots). Each member of the team shall play the role of client, counsel and mediator at least once over the course of the three preliminary rounds.

Eligibility: Any student pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law is eligible to participate in the competition.

Registration: There are two steps to the registration process for the competition, the application and the selection. The application has to be made via the form attached here . After the deadline of the last date for application, the 30 selected teams will be requested to complete the registration process to confirm their slot.

Registration fees per participant is set at INR 4,900 (inclusive of accommodation) for 3 days (27th February – 29th February), welcome kits and merchandise. Each team is permitted one coach during the course of the competition. Teams wishing to bring their coach will be charged an additional of INR 2,100 for accommodation.

ADR-ODR Mediation Accreditation Training Course

About: The ADR-ODR Mediation Accreditation Course is a rigorous 40-hour training conducted by Mr. Rahim Shamji of ADR-ODR International, London. The Course grants participants the certification of a professional mediator accredited by the UK Civil Mediation Council. It gives it an internationally recognized kite mark of excellence, which means that graduates of this course find it straightforward to begin their mediation practice in many jurisdictions across the world.

Registration: Registration for the Course is open to all (even students not participating in the competition). Open Courses by the organization in London costs participants in excess of GPB 2,500, but is being offered to students at a discounted rate via NUJS for the event. Accommodation for the duration of the Course is available at cost of INR 2,400. Registration for the course can be made via filling the form here.
