Gujarat National Law University in association with   the “Center for Law, Science & Innovation, Arizona State University” is pleased to offer  Certificate Course on  “Emerging Technologies and the Law”  from July 29-August 2, 2019 .

About the course

Science and technology  especially emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology, genomics,  neuroscience, and block chain are advancing at unprecedented rate.  Law is affected by these emerging technologies in two primary ways.  First, law is called up on to help society govern technology and its potential impacts, both ex ante (regulation) and ex post (liability).  Second, the practice of law itself is being affected and altered by technology in unprecedented ways. This course will provide an overview of both aspects of this growing intersection between law and technology.

Resource person

The course has been drafted and shall  be conducted by  Gary Marchant, Ph.D., J.D., M.P.P.  Prof Marchant serves as the Regents’ Professor and Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law & Ethics, and Faculty Director of the Center for Law, Science & Innovation, at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University (ASU).
Professor Marchant  has served on six National Academy of Sciences study committees. He  has been the principal investigator on several major grants, and has organized dozens of academic conferences and workshops on law and science issues.
