The 4th edition of GNLU Moot Court on Securities and Investment Law was held from 6th-9th September 2018. GNLUMSIL is unique because of the subject-matter that it deals with i.e. Securities and Investment Law.

Since its inception in 2015, GNLUMSIL has garnered much praise for filling a void in the Indian mooting scene by providing an opportunity for research and student advocacy in the field of securities and investment law. In a short span, the moot came to establish itself as a quality platform for brilliant minds to parley and learn more about the subject, witnessing 26, 30 and 44 teams vie for the top spot in the first, second and third editions respectively. The moot also saw successful collaborations with the Bombay Stock Exchange Investors’ Protection Fund, Finsec Law Advisors, Suvan Law Advisors, Lex Witness and Eastern Book Company and SCC Online.

In this edition, 36 teams from across the country participated in the moot. The preliminary rounds took place on 7th and 8th September 2018. 8 teams qualified for the quarter finals that took place on 9th September. After some gruelling rounds 4 teams qualified for the semi-finals.

2. Symbiosis Law School, Pune
3. Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, New Delhi
4. Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur

Ultimately, Jindal Global Law School and Symbiosis Law School reached the finals of the competition. The judges for the finals were  Ms. Dharmishta Raval (Partner, Raval & Raval Advocates), Mr. Sandeep Parekh (Founder and Managing Partner, Finsec Law Advisors), Mr. Somasekhar Sundaresan (Advocate, Bombay High Court) and Mr. Murali Neelakantan (Executive Director, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals) and Ms. Akila Agarwal (Head, Mergers and Acquisition, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas).

After a hard fought final round, Jindal Global Law School emerged as the winner of the competition.
Runners up- Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
Best Speaker– Finals- Kyra Dcunha, Jindal Global Law School.
Best Speaker– Preliminary Rounds- Aditya Yadav, National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi.
Best Memorial– Institute of Law, Nirma University.
Best Researcher– Siddharth Nunes, School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore.

The student convenors of the GNLUMSIL OC, Ms. Sanskriti Sanghi and Ms Aarthi Krishna addressed the gathering, expressing their thanks for all their coordinators, as well as the fellow OC members.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Girish R. who spoke about the entire process of organizing the moot, thanked the sponsors for their support, as well as members of the OC and participants.
