Indian Mediation Week and Lions Clubs International, District 322B2 presents “International Conclave on Conflict Resolution” on 19 August, 2018 at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. The main aim of the workshop is to equip participants with the basics of theoretical and practical aspects of law and procedures with regard to resolution of a conflict, including sessions on Arbitration, Mediation, Legal Aid, etc. Eminent Jurists, Lawyers, Diplomats, Academicians and Social activist will be taking session of various sub-themes mentioned below.

Module I- International Disputes and Resolution

Module II – National Disputes and Resolution

Module III- Gender based Conflicts and Resolution

Module III- Conflicts with regard to Personal Laws

Module IV- Cyber Crime and Resolution

Module V- Conflicts due to press, media

Module VI-  Conflicts with regard to companies, corporations and resolutions.

Module VII- Alternative Dispute Resolution, including separate sessions on Arbitration, Mediation, Online Mediation, Legal Aid, Lok-Adalat, Para Legal Scheme.

Who can Participate?

Students, Lawyers, Academicians, Researchers, Social Activists and anyone else who is  interested can participate. We have limited number of seats and, hence applications will be selected on first come first serve basis.

Best Law Student Award

At this event we seek to recognize the heroes from within ourselves. We want to acknowledge the efforts of students who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of justice in India. For this, we have instituted the inaugural  Best Law Student Award. We request you to send in nominations for the same by 15th August, 2018.

Nominations for the awards should include: A letter of nomination setting out the reasons for the nomination & background information on the nominee’s outstanding service & achievements as they relate to the award. – A current curriculum vitae. Additionally, the performance of the student in the workships will be considered for giving the final award.

The awards will be given by the Keynote Speaker, Varun Gandhi, Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha.

Call For Papers

Word limit– Articles ( 1500-2000 words)

We welcome submissions from students, academicians, researchers and legal practitioners, to come up with their contributions in the form of articles on any of the sub-themes of the conclave. Submit your full paper along with declaration that the paper is original and not published elsewhere. The  paper must reach us latest by the 12th August, 2018 on email id paper.iccr@gmail.com.

Top 10 papers will be published on the IMW Blog and awarded a certificate of achievement. After a screening process, the top finalists shall be provided with the opportunity to present the same before the esteemed audience for the conclave. They will also be provided with 21-days internship opportunities.

All students submitting the paper need to register for the conference. They will be provided a certificate of participation for the conclave as well.

Registration Process

Registration is open till 15th August,  2018. All interested participants are required to send their names and contact details to youthconclave@gmail.com, latest by 15th August, 2018. There is no registration fee.
