Gujarat National Law University hosted it’s eighth convocation on 18th March, 2017. 151 LLB, 66 LLM and 4 PhD student were awarded degrees on this occasion. This event was marked by the presence of Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law and Justice, who was also the was the Chief Guest of the event. Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, Judge, Supreme Court, presided over the event. Other guests were Justice Subhash Reddy, Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat and Shri Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of Law and Justice, Government of Gujarat.

Mr Prasad praised the achievements of the students, with special reference to a large number of girls achieving excellence. He lauded the efforts of the University in having dedicated a chair to promote ethics and values in the legal profession. He emphasized on the need to remember the struggle for freedom and the rise of Indian lawyers, and to be motivated by the same. He also advised the newly graduates to enter the litigation practice; despite the initial struggle as hard work always pay off. The convocation was declared to be closed by the Visitor, and concluded with the national anthem.
