Hon’ble Justice B P Jeevan Reddy, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Former Chairman, Law Commission of India will inaugurate a one week seminar course on Comparative Constitutional Law Perspectives from November 21-26, 2016 at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.

The seminar course is jointly organised by M K Nambyar SAARCLaw Centre and the Centre for Constitutional Law, Public Policy and Governance, NALSAR University of Law. The aim of the Seminar is to educate the participants on comparative constitutional law issues, its need, use and mis-use. The themes include National constitutions and globalizing legal order, Equality and non-discrimination in comparative constitutions, Socio-economic rights and comparative perspectives, South Asian Constitutionalism and Constitutional Courts and the Constitution. Faculty, Advocates, Research Scholars and Students from Universities across the country as well from other SAARC Countries are participating in the programme.

Lectures by learned scholars such as Prof. M. P. Singh, Visiting Professor, NLU, Delhi, Prof. Ishwara Bhat, Vice Chancellor, WBNUJS, Kolkata, Dr. Nicole Toepperwein, Co-founder, Ximpluse GmbH, Switzerland, Prof. G B Reddy, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Vice Chancellor, NALSAR, Hyderabad, and Dr. Alexander Fischer, Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat will provide expert insights into the merits and demerits of the use of comparative constitutional material.

The six days seminar will also be conducting a simulation exercise followed by presentations by the participants in order to evaluate and improve their understanding of comparative constitutional law and its use in the interpretation of the Indian Constitution for students interested in constitutional law.
