Supreme Court<\/span><\/b>: Deliberating upon the fate of the coal blocks declared illegal and arbitrary by the court via order<\/a> dated 25.08.2014<\/a>, the Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi asked the Court to exempt around 40 coal blocks from cancellation as the same are already functioning and producing coal and 6 other coal blocks which are in ready to produce coal shortly. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Court had in it\u2019s earlier order stated that the allocations made through, both, the Screening Committee route and the Government dispensation route were arbitrary, thereby declaring the coal blocks to be illegal and unconstitutional. However, the Court had made it clear that the consequences of declaring the coal blocks illegal required further hearing. <\/span><\/p>\n
