In a notification issued dated 29th<\/sup> June, 2016, the University Grants Commission in exercise of powers conferred under clause (g) of sub-section (1) of section 26 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, makes the following Regulations namely \u201cCurbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (third amendment), Regulations, 2016.\u201d They shall come into force on the date of their publications in the Official Gazette.<\/p>\n

In UGC Regulations on Curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 (herein-after referred to as the Principal regulations), in Para 3 the following shall be added after 3(i) under heading what constitutes Ragging.\u2014<\/p>\n

3(j). Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.<\/p>\n
