The President has appointed 12 Additional Judges as Judges of the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttaranchal and Gauhati under Article 217(1)<\/a> of the Constitution of India<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The appointments include five Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, five of the Kerala High Court, one of the Uttaranchal High Court and one of the Gauhati High Court. The appointments take effect from the date on which the respective Judges assume charge of their offices.<\/p>\n

The appointments were notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division), Government of India, through a notification dated 1 October 2026<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Andhra Pradesh High Court<\/p>\n

The President has appointed Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam @ Kuncham, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar @ T.C.D. Sekhar, Justice Challa Gunaranjan, Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr. Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao as Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.<\/p>\n

Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar and Justice Challa Gunaranjan were appointed as Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in October 2024, while Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr. Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao were appointed as Additional Judges in January 2025.<\/p>\n

Kerala High Court<\/p>\n

The President has appointed Justice Parameswara Panicker Krishna Kumar, Justice Kodassery Veliyath Madom Jayakumar, Justice Muralee Krishna Shankaramoole, Justice Jobin Sebastian and Justice Pandikkaran Varadaraja Iyer Balakrishnan as Judges of the Kerala High Court.<\/p>\n

All five were appointed as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court in October 2024.<\/p>\n

Uttaranchal High Court<\/p>\n

Justice Subhash Upadhyay, Additional Judge of the Uttaranchal High Court, has been appointed as a Judge of the High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Judge in May 2025.<\/p>\n

Gauhati High Court<\/p>\n

Justice Kaushik Goswami, Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court, has been appointed as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Judge in November 2023.<\/p>\n

The appointments follow the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium made on 23 September 2026. The Collegium had recommended the five Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, five Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court, Justice Subhash Upadhyay and Justice Kaushik Goswami for appointment as Permanent Judges of their respective High Courts.<\/p>\n
