{"id":394008,"date":"2026-08-22T12:30:48","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T07:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=394008"},"modified":"2026-08-22T12:55:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T07:25:07","slug":"samadhan-samaroh-special-lok-adalat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2026\/08\/22\/samadhan-samaroh-special-lok-adalat\/","title":{"rendered":"SAMADHAN SAMAROH: 600 Listed, 400+ Settled on Day One of the Supreme Court&#8217;s Special Lok Adalat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/12-30_SAMADHAN-SAMAROH-2026-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"350\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Under the guidance of the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">SAMADHAN SAMAROH 2026<\/span> (Supreme Court Action for Mediated Adjudication and Disputes Harmonization Across Nation), which commenced on 21 April 2026, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">entered its<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">culmination phase<\/span> on 21 August 2026 with the commencement of the Special Lok Adalat at the Supreme Court of India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Special Lok Adalat will continue for the next two days and culminate on 23 August 2026, providing an <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">opportunity for amicable resolution of pending cases and bringing justice closer to citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/12-30_SAMADHAN-SAMAROH-2026-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"721\" height=\"350\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">16 Special Lok Adalat Benches take up over 600 cases<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">On the first day of the Special Lok Adalat, more than 600 cases were listed for settlement before 16 Special Lok Adalat Benches. Each Bench comprised two sitting Judges of the Supreme Court, along with Senior Advocates, Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and other advocates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">More than 400 cases were amicably settled on the first day<\/span>. The Benches facilitated dialogue between the parties and assisted them in exploring the possibility of an amicable settlement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/12-30_SAMADHAN-SAMAROH-2026-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Matrimonial, property, motor accident and tax matters among cases taken up<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The matters placed before the Special Lok Adalat Benches included cases with elements for settlement, such as matrimonial and property disputes, motor accident claims, land acquisition and compensation matters, tax matters, and service and labour disputes pending before the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">These matters had undergone a pre-settlement process since the commencement of SAMADHAN SAMAROH in April 2026. During this process, litigants and their counsel were engaged to explore the possibility of an amicable resolution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/12-30_SAMADHAN-SAMAROH-2026-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"770\" height=\"350\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Special Lok Adalat provides avenue for resolution through consent and dialogue<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Special Lok Adalat provides parties an opportunity to resolve their disputes through consent and dialogue, while reducing the burden associated with prolonged litigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The initiative reflects the Supreme Court&#8217;s continued efforts<\/span> to promote <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">mediation<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">other consensual methods of dispute
