C. Chagla Memorial Trust, presents the 33<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">rd<\/span> M. C. Chagla Memorial Government Law College National Moot Court Competition, 2026. A maximum of 16 teams shall participate and the registrations shall be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Competition will be conducted in a hybrid mode. The Preliminary Rounds and Quarter-Final Round will be held online on 26<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> September, 2026 (Saturday) and the Semi-Final Round and Final Round of Arguments will be held offline on 9<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> \u2014 10<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> October, 2026 (Friday &amp; Saturday) in Mumbai. A Panel Discussion will also be held Offline on 9<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> October, 2026 at Government Law College, Mumbai. Eminent lawyers and Judges of the highest standing in India, academicians and experts in the field of Indian Constitutional Law shall converge to adjudicate the various rounds of the Competition. The last date to provisionally register is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">20<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> August, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. IST<\/span>. Only after confirmation of provisional registration will teams receive a link to the Google Form and payment details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">A nominal registration fee of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">INR 2,500\/-<\/span> shall be charged to all teams. The Registration Fee must be paid via NEFT, the details of which shall be provided once the provisional registration has been confirmed. Participation is limited to only one team per College or University. The generations of legal luminaries who have been nurtured by this unique institution have made a seminal contribution to the evolution of the Indian Legal System. Sir Dinshaw Mulla, Mr. A. A. A. Fyzee and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar have all been the principals of this venerated institution. Former Chief Justices of India including Mr. Harilal Kania &#8211; the first Chief Justice of India, Mr. P. N. Bhagwati, Mr. S. H. Kapadia, Mr. M. H. Kania and Mr. S. P. Bharucha all began their careers at GLC. The Hon\u2019ble President of India, Her Excellency, Ms. Pratibha Patil, Mr. Soli Sorabjee, Mr. Fali Nariman, Mr. Anil Divan, Mr. T. R. Andhyarujina and Mr. Goolam Vahanvati have all been students of this very Institution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Competition is organised in collaboration with the Chief Justice M. C. Chagla Memorial Trust. The late Mr. M. C. Chagla was the first Indian Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. He served the country in various capacities, including as Ambassador to the USA, Mexico, and Cuba; High Commissioner to England; Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bombay; and Union Minister for Education. He also taught Constitutional Law at Government Law College, Mumbai. A champion of civil liberties and democracy, this Competition stands as a tribute to his inspiring legacy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; text-underline-style: solid; text-underline-mode: continuous;\">ABOUT THE COMPETITION<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The M. C. Chagla Memorial Moot Court Competition began as a city-level Competition and was subsequently elevated to state and national levels due to its growing popularity and participation. Since its 18th edition, it has been hosted on a national platform, attracting prestigious law colleges across India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Competition is designed to simulate real court proceedings, judged by esteemed legal professionals. It provides an exceptional platform for students to develop advocacy skills and engage with contemporary legal issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; text-underline-style: solid; text-underline-mode: continuous;\">THE PANEL DISCUSSION<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Moot is accompanied by a Panel Discussion that delves into current socio-legal questions that often relate closely to the Proposition. Featuring eminent personalities from the field of Indian Constitutional Law, this discussion offers unique insights into contemporary legal and societal issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Previous editions of the Panel Discussion have explored thought-provoking themes such as \u201cBalancing Religious Freedom with State Oversight in Managing Religious Endowments and Minority Affairs.\u201d, featuring distinguished legal experts and practitioners like, Sr. Adv. Sharan Jagtiani, Ms. Fatema Kachwalla, Mr. Murtaza Kachwalla, Mr. S. M.
