July 2026, the Maharashtra Government notified the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Indian Partnership (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 2026<\/span>, amending the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002752440\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Partnership Act, 1932<\/a><\/span> in its application to the State of Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Amendment aims to modernise the registration framework for partnership firms in Maharashtra by promoting digital filing, electronic verification and online access to records, thereby simplifying regulatory compliance and improving ease of doing business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Key Highlights:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>\n<p>The Amendment Act substitutes <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Section <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001527867\" target=\"_blank\">58<\/a><\/span> of the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002752440\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Partnership Act, 1932<\/a><\/span>, to provide for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">online registration<\/span> of partnership firms through the prescribed official website.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Registration applications will be required to be filed electronically in the prescribed form along with payment of fees through the online mode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The registration statement is required to contain the following particulars of the firm:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Firm name, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">PAN<\/span> and e-mail address;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Nature of business;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Principal place of business;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Details of other places where the firm carries on business;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Date on which each partner joined the firm;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Full names, permanent addresses, e-mail addresses and mobile numbers of all partners; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Duration of the firm<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The statement is required to be <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">digitally signed<\/span> by all partners or their duly authorised agents, and the prescribed supporting documents are required to be uploaded online on the official website.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The amendment to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Section 59<\/span> requires the Registrar to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">digitally record registration of the firm<\/span> upon being satisfied that the requirements of the Act have been complied with.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Act also amends <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Section 67<\/span> to permit issuance of certified copies of entries in the Register of Firms through <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">online or offline<\/span> mode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">[<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Indian
