2-Month Probe, 3-Month Trial Framework"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">On 29 July 2026, the Lok Sabha passed the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026<\/span>, seeking to strengthen the legal framework governing paper leak cases and other examination-related offences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Key Highlights:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>\n<p>The Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The Bill proposes Special Fast-Track Courts, Special Task Forces for investigation, enhanced penalties and strict timelines for investigation and trial of offences under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-9001921567\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"Hyperlink\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The Bill proposes a tougher enforcement framework, including:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Enhanced imprisonment from 3-5 years to 5-10 years for certain offences;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Increase in fines from &#8377;10 lakh to &#8377;50 lakh for specified offences;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Constitution of Special Task Forces for investigation of offences;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Establishment of Special Fast-Track Courts for trial of offences;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Completion of investigations within two months;
