The move reflects India&#8217;s continued importance to SIAC, with Indian users consistently ranking among the institution&#8217;s top foreign users for several years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The newly established office is expected to deepen SIAC&#8217;s engagement with arbitration practitioners, in-house counsel, businesses, and institutional partners across the country. It will facilitate outreach initiatives, training programmes, seminars, and collaborative efforts aimed at promoting international arbitration and strengthening dispute resolution practices in the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The inauguration ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Surya Kant, Chief Justice of India<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Edwin Tong SC, Singapore&#8217;s Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law &amp; Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Tejas Karia, Judge, High Court of Delhi<\/span>; and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">R. Venkataramani, Attorney General for India and Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Delhi Liaison Office will be headed by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Shwetha Bidhuri, Director &amp; Head (South Asia), SIAC<\/span>, with <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Devna Arora, Deputy Head (South Asia)<\/span>, and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Steffi Mary Punnose, Strategy &amp; Development Manager (South Asia)<\/span>, supporting its operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Speaking on the occasion, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Davinder Singh SC, Chairman of SIAC<\/span>, said that Indian parties and lawyers have played a pivotal role in SIAC&#8217;s growth over the years, not only as one of its largest user groups but also through their contributions as Board Directors, Court members and in other capacities. He noted that the establishment of the Delhi office recognises India&#8217;s importance to SIAC and reflects the institution&#8217;s commitment to serving the Indian legal and business community more closely.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Lucy Reed, President of the SIAC Court of Arbitration<\/span>, observed that Indian parties have consistently remained among SIAC&#8217;s top three foreign users over the past decade. She stated that the new office would enable closer engagement with stakeholders in India while enhancing awareness of SIAC&#8217;s international arbitration services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-25-at-9.12.11-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"274\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-391429\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Highlighting the significance of the expansion, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Gloria Lim, Chief Executive Officer of SIAC<\/span>, said the Delhi Liaison Office reinforces SIAC&#8217;s longstanding commitment to India and represents an important step in its global journey.
