{"id":390609,"date":"2026-07-17T11:00:03","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T05:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=390609"},"modified":"2026-07-17T11:04:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T05:34:42","slug":"law-colleges-bci-approval-renewal-deadline-31-july-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2026\/07\/17\/law-colleges-bci-approval-renewal-deadline-31-july-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Law Colleges Get Final Chance to Retain BCI Approval; Deadline Ends 31 July"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">On 13 July 2026, the Bar Council of India (BCI) issued a circular granting a final opportunity to existing Centres of Legal Education (CLEs) to submit and complete applications for extension or renewal of approval for existing law courses, sections and sanctioned intake on or before 31 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Key Highlights:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>\n<p>The BCI has granted a final opportunity to existing Centres of Legal Education to submit and complete applications for extension or renewal of approval for existing law courses, sections and sanctioned intake by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">31 July 2026<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The circular applies to institutions that have either:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Not submitted the required applications; or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Started the application process but not completed it by uploading documents, furnishing particulars, paying fees or rectifying deficiencies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Every existing CLE intending to continue offering any law degree course has been directed to submit the prescribed application for extension or renewal of approval by 31 July 2026.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Portal registration alone will not amount to a complete application. All required documents, information and fees must be submitted for an application to be treated as complete.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Institutions have been asked to verify the approval status of each law course, section and sanctioned intake and submit appropriate applications wherever renewal or extension of approval is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Applications are required to include prescribed documents such as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>University affiliation or consent of affiliation;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Previous BCI approval letters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Faculty details;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Infrastructure particulars;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Course-wise and section-wise information;
