ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY- MAHARASHTRA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR<\/p>\n

Recognising the importance of quality legal education and the need for well-trained law graduates to serve the Bar, the Bench, and various professions, the State of Maharashtra took a significant step by establishing three National Law Universities at Mumbai, Nagpur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Each of these universities was established as an independent and autonomous institution under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014<\/a>. The newest addition to this group is Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (earlier Aurangabad), which officially commenced operations on March 16, 2017. The establishment of this University fulfilled a long-standing aspiration of the people of the Marathwada region for a premier national institution dedicated to legal education. The University welcomed its inaugural batch in the academic year 2017—2018, and since then, it has grown significantly in both stature and student strength. In furtherance of its commitment to academic excellence, the University entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Convenor of CLAT 2017, thereby opening its doors to aspiring law students across the country through the merit-based Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).<\/p>\n

ABOUT 2nd CCI-MNLUCS NATIONAL ANTITRUST MOOT COURT COMPETITION<\/p>\n

2nd MNLU-CS National Antitrust Moot Court Competition, 2026, organized by the Moot Court Association (MCA) and Centre for Competition Law and Policy (CCLP) of Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MNLU-CS) in association with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) & Phoenix Legal is a steppingstone for the University to enter into building legal scholarship and advocacy in the most significant field of competition law. This Competition aims to encourage participants to discuss, and debate intricate antitrust matters that are both contemporary and jurisprudentially evolving. Although relatively young, India’s competition law framework has rapidly grown in significance, with the adjudicatory and advocacy roles of the CCI affecting the business environment and consumer welfare. Against this backdrop, this competition seeks to offer a platform for law students across the country to develop high-level research work, effective advocacy skills, and to enhance the academic debate on antitrust law.<\/p>\n

The Competition shall be conducted across different stages in a hybrid format, with virtual Preliminary and Quarter-Final rounds on 12th – 13th September 2026 respectively, followed by the Semi-Final and Final rounds to be conducted physically at the university campus on 27th September 2026. The arrangement is conceived to provide maximum accessibility with the flavour of courtroom advocacy in a real-life environment. Through this project, MNLU-CS seeks to establish a sound corpus of antitrust principles and provide future lawyers with conceptual tools needed to navigate and mould the fast-developing field of competition law in India.<\/p>\n
