On 7 May 2026, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs<\/span> appointed the date 7 May 2026 on which the provisions of Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026<\/span><\/a> relating to the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016<\/a><\/span> comes into force.<\/p>\n

The amendment made in the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016<\/a>:<\/h2>\n

Section 68 relating to “Penalty for failure to comply with orders of Appellate Tribunal by allottee”<\/span> has been revised:<\/p>\n

    Earlier<\/span>, if any allottee failed to comply with the orders\/ directions of the Appellate Tribunal, the allottee was punished with imprisonment for a maximum period of 1 year and fine for everyday during which such default continues, which can cumulatively extend up to 10% of the plot, apartment or building cost, or with both.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Now<\/span>, the allottee will only be liable to a penalty which can extend up to 10% of the plot, apartment, or building cost.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
