IDIA is a non-profit, student-run movement that aims to empower underprivileged and marginalised children through legal education. It is conducting this Essay Competition as a part of its fundraising activities to support its initiatives. KCO, which is supporting IDIA in organising the Competition, is one of India&#8217;s oldest and largest law firms, having a legacy of providing exceptional legal services while also performing its social responsibility. Following are the relevant details about the Essay Competition:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Eligibility<\/span>: All undergraduate Law students, in both Integrated Law Degrees (5-Years) and Standalone Law Degrees (3-Years) are eligible to participate in the Essay Competition.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Prizes<\/span>: The Participants can win the following Prizes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; 1<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">st<\/span> Place: <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Internship Opportunity with Khaitan &amp; Co.<\/span>, along with a Rs. 5k Cash Prize and a Certificate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; 2<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">nd<\/span> Place: Rs. 3k Cash Prize along with a Certificate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">&#8211; Top 5 Entries overall: Certificates of Merit.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Theme<\/span>: Participants are requested to write on any topic that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">substantially<\/span> deals with any area of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">commercial<\/span> and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">corporate law<\/span>. These areas of law may include but are not limited to competition law, contract law, corporate governance, insolvency law, insurance law, and securities law. Submissions that fall outside of this ambit will be rejected. Some <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">suggestive topics<\/span> are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Intersection of data privacy and competition law in India<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; SEBI and fin-influencer regulation<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Revisiting the corporate purpose debate in India<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Fiduciary duty of promoters in India<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">&#8211; Regulating competition in the digital sphere<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Submission Guidelines<\/span>: All Essays must comply with the following requirements before Submission:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Word Count: 5000-7000 words, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">exclusive<\/span> of footnotes<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Number of Authors: Both single-authored pieces and co-authored pieces with <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">2 co-authors<\/span> are allowed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Citation Style: 4<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">th<\/span> Edition of OSCOLA<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Font: Times New Roman; Font Size: 12<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt;\">&#8211; Line Spacing: 1.5<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36pt; text-indent: -18pt; margin-bottom: 3%;\">&#8211; Anonymity: No mention of name, email, university, or any other identifying details. A submission will be <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">automatically rejected<\/span> if any identifying details are present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Registration and Submission Deadlines<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; text-underline-style: solid; text-underline-mode: continuous;\">:<\/span> The <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Registrations<\/span> opened on 1st May 2026 and will remain open until 15<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">th<\/span> June 2026.
