The GNLU Legal Incubation Council, in collaboration with the GNLU Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, is set to organise the 2nd Edition of the GLIC IPR and Startup Course on 20 and 21 March 2026 at Gujarat National Law University.<\/p>\n

This specialised short term programme is conceptualised to address the growing need for intellectual property literacy within the startup ecosystem. As startups increasingly drive technological advancement, economic development, and market innovation, the ability to identify, protect, and strategically leverage intellectual property assets has become indispensable. The course is designed to provide participants with a structured and practice oriented understanding of how Intellectual Property Rights function not merely as legal tools, but as strategic business assets.<\/p>\n

Over the course of two intensive days, participants will engage with critical themes including protection of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets; formulation of effective IP strategy; valuation and commercialisation of intellectual property assets; licensing frameworks; enforcement mechanisms; and dispute resolution in intellectual property matters. The programme also examines emerging trends in startup governance, investor expectations regarding IP portfolios, and the role of IP in securing competitive advantage and long term sustainability.<\/p>\n

The sessions will be delivered by leading industry practitioners from reputed intellectual property law firms, ensuring that participants gain practical insights grounded in real world advisory and litigation experience. The interaction oriented structure of the course aims to bridge the gap between academic understanding and professional application.<\/p>\n

The programme is open to students from the second year onwards in the Undergraduate Law programme and to students from other institutions who demonstrate a keen interest in intellectual property and entrepreneurship. Selection is strictly merit based and will be conducted through evaluation of the applicant’s Resume and Statement of Purpose. A limited intake ensures focused engagement and meaningful interaction.<\/p>\n

In addition to academic enrichment, 11 to 13 participants will be shortlisted for internship opportunities during the current year, subject to a two level assessment and interview process. This added professional exposure underscores the programme’s commitment to practical skill development and industry readiness.<\/p>\n
