The Moot Court Society, University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), successfully organized its flagship intra-departmental competition, Lex Novus<\/span>, from 30th January to 1st February, 2026<\/span>. Conceptualized as a premier platform to foster advocacy skills, research excellence, and courtroom professionalism among budding legal minds, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years.<\/p>\n

Organized under the distinguished guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi<\/span>, Director, UILS, and envisioned as the brainchild of Faculty In-Charge Dr. Supreet Gill<\/span>, Lex Novus stands as a testament to the institution’s steadfast commitment to experiential legal education. The competition was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Supreet Gill<\/span>, along with Assistant Faculty In-Charge Dr. Shivani Gupta<\/span>, and Faculty Coordinators Dr. Priya Singla<\/span> and Ms. Atambir Kaur<\/span>, with the objective of providing students a rigorous and immersive mooting experience early in their academic journey. Through competitive preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds, participants demonstrated remarkable legal reasoning, structured argumentation, and persuasive advocacy.<\/p>\n

The Final Rounds were adjudicated by an esteemed bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Harkesh Manuja<\/span>, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh; Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh<\/span>, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala; and Adv. Kunal Dawar<\/span>, Senior Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh. Their insightful observations and probing questions significantly enriched the learning experience of the participants.<\/p>\n

The award for Best Speaker<\/span> was secured by Garima (1st Year)<\/span> for her exceptional articulation and courtroom presence. The title of Best Researcher<\/span> was conferred upon Harshita Singhla (2nd Year)<\/span> in recognition of her outstanding research and drafting excellence. The award for Best Memorial<\/span> was bagged by the team comprising Avnoor Kaur (3rd Year, B.Com. LL.B.), Aman Kumar (3rd Year, B.Com. LL.B.), and Srishti Garg (3rd Year, B.A. LL.B.), whose written submissions reflected exemplary research, clarity, and persuasive drafting.<\/p>\n

The event was meticulously orchestrated by the student leadership of the Moot Court Society, including Mr. Mimanshak Khosla (President), Ms. Saadia Sharma (Convenor), and Ms. Tvisha Juneja (Co-Convenor)<\/span>The seamless execution of Lex Novus 2026<\/span> was made possible through the dedicated efforts, coordination, and unwavering commitment of the entire Executive Members of the Moot Court Society, along with the event coordinators, Mr. Ayush Sagar Sharma, Mr. Riyansh Gupta, Ms. Nupur Sanghi, Ms. Prasha Bhatia<\/span> whose collective diligence ensured the success of the competition.<\/p>\n

The competition concluded on a note of pride and accomplishment, reaffirming the Moot Court Society’s vision of nurturing competent, confident, and ethically grounded future members of the legal fraternity.<\/p>\n
