The Legal Aid Centre at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, under the visionary guidance of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Lucknow, proudly culminated a week-long celebration of National Women’s Day from February 6th to 13th, 2026, themed “Empower Her: Advancing Equity Through Action, Leadership, and Opportunity.” This series of events, aligned with our motto of “Equal Access to Justice for All,” sought to empower women from diverse backgrounds like students, villagers, and inmates by fostering legal literacy, gender sensitization, and community engagement, through interactive workshops, awareness camps, and discussions, our dedicated team bridged gaps in access to justice, ensuring marginalized voices are heard and empowered.<\/p>\n

The following events were successfully organised during this week-long celebration:<\/p>\n

Gender Sensitization Workshop<\/h2>\n

On February 6th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre organised a Gender Sensitization Workshop at City Law College, Lucknow focusing on gender equality, justice, and women-centric issues while tackling discrimination and linking legal rights to social realities. These sessions empowered women with the knowledge of their rights, advocacy skills, and confidence to challenge inequalities, fostering leadership for societal equity and justice access.<\/p>\n

Visit to Rajakiya Balika Griha<\/h2>\n

On February 7th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre visited Rajakiya Balika Griha, and conducted sessions on legal rights, gender justice, and rehabilitation for women inmates, along with a survey which focused on their present needs. This empowered the residents with constitutional knowledge and schemes, bridging law gaps for dignity, equality, and reintegration fostering reformative justice and inclusive societal equity.<\/p>\n

Village Awareness Camp<\/h2>\n

On February 9th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre’s Village Awareness Camp featured an awareness session on menstrual health under Article 21’s right to life, linked to menstrual hygiene in the light of the latest Supreme Court ruling in Dr. Jaya Thakur v. Govt. of India and Ors<\/span>. Furthermore, the visit included a sanitary napkin distribution to promote menstrual hygiene, alongside sessions on breast cancer awareness, abortion rights, hygiene, and schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and PMAY. A concurrent survey assessed villagers’ awareness of government schemes and noted problems with documents like Aadhaar and ration cards, identifying barriers to access. This empowered women by enhancing legal literacy on Articles 14, 21, and 39A, boosting enrollments, enabling filings, and building resilient communities. Past efforts transformed lives, transcending rural barriers for equitable justice.<\/p>\n

Podcast Session<\/h2>\n

On February 10th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre hosted a live recording of “Shakti Samvaad: Law Through Her Lens,” featuring an in-depth interview with Ms. Tarunima Bajpai, founder of EcoSwop Solutions. The session explored workplace harassment under the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013; Supreme Court gender justice rulings, unequal pay, and credit access barriers, blending anecdotes, analysis, and Q&A. This platform amplified women’s voices, ignited dialogue on empowerment, and equipped listeners with advocacy tools, fostering legal literacy and societal reforms for equal justice.<\/p>\n

Speech Competition<\/h2>\n

On February 11th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre organized “UDBODHAN,” an exhilarating Speech Competition themed “Beyond Boundaries: Redefining Women’s Role in a Changing World”. Open to students, this competition equipped the youngsters with a platform to hone their speaking skills and fostered progressive thoughts on empowerment, and advanced our motto of equal access to justice by amplifying women’s voices for societal change.<\/p>\n

Panel Discussion<\/h2>\n

On February 13th, 2026, the Legal Aid Centre culminated National Women’s Day with a compelling panel discussion titled “Empower Her: Advancing Equity Through Action, Leadership, and Opportunity.” Esteemed panelists Shri. Jeevak Kumar Singh, Secretary, DLSA, Adv. Pushpila Bisht, Partner, PB&MT Associates LLP., Ms. Neetu Singh, Founder and Editor, Shades of Rural India and Dr. Puja Singh, President, Aahwan Ek Pukar Foundation; delved into women’s rights challenges, constitutional protections, recent laws, government schemes, and grassroots movements for gender equality. This fostered legal literacy, mobilized support for inclusivity, and advanced equal access to justice for empowered women.<\/p>\n
