Intellectual Property Law today stands at the crossroads of innovation, commerce, technology, and human creativity. As new technologies redefine ownership, originality, and access, the role of legal professionals in navigating these complexities has never been more crucial. Recognising this evolving landscape, the Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, is set to organise the 2nd National IP Law Moot Court Competition, 2026<\/span>, building upon the resounding success of its inaugural edition.<\/p>\n

The competition aims to provide law students across the country with a rigorous and immersive platform to engage with contemporary intellectual property disputes, sharpen their advocacy skills, and experience the realities of IP litigation in a simulated courtroom environment.<\/p>\n

About Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL)<\/h3>\n

Why the 2nd National IP Law Moot Court Competition?<\/h3>\n

    Unlike conventional moots that focus primarily on doctrinal interpretation, this competition emphasises the practical dynamics of IP litigation<\/span>, including pleadings, evidentiary considerations, procedural strategy, and judicial engagement. Participants are expected to demonstrate not only legal knowledge but also adaptability, clarity of reasoning, and persuasive advocacy.<\/p>\n

    By simulating real-world disputes, the moot aims to prepare students for the nuanced and fast-evolving nature of intellectual property practice.<\/p>\n

    Competition Structure<\/h3>\n

    Team Composition and Eligibility<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • \n

      Each team shall consist of two undergraduate students<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Teams must prepare memorials for both sides<\/span> of the dispute.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Memorial Qualifier Rounds<\/h3>\n

      All teams must submit written memorials in accordance with the official rules. Based on memorial scores, the top 16 teams<\/span> will qualify for the oral rounds. Memorial scores may also be used for seeding.<\/p>\n

      Oral Rounds<\/h3>\n

      Qualified teams will participate in Preliminary Rounds, arguing once from each side. The top four teams<\/span> advance to the Semi-Finals, followed by the Final Round on a knock-out basis.<\/p>\n
