On 29-01-2026, in reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law and Justice, informed the Rajya Sabha about the launch of the Notary Portal<\/span> to digitally modernize the Legal Services. This Portal will be a dedicated platform for providing online services for the works related to the Notary Act, 1952 and the Notary Rules, 1956.<\/p>\n

Law Minister’s important points on Notary Portal:<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. \n

    The main purpose is to provide an online interface between the Notaries and the Government for various services. These services can be like:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Like submission of applications for appointment as Notaries;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      verification of eligibility for appointment as Notaries;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      issuance of digitally signed Certificate of Practice as a Notary;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      renewal of Certificate of Practice;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      change of practice area;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      submission of annual return.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • \n

      This portal will provide a faceless, paperless, transparent, and efficient system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      At present, only the module related to verification of documents and eligibility and issuance of digitally signed Certificate of Practice to the newly appointed Notaries is live.<\/p>\n

      Earlier, this Certificate used to be issued physically to the Notaries.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      More than 36000 digitally signed Certificates of Practice have already been issued to the newly appointed Notaries until 23-01-2026 through this Notary Portal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
