About the TNNLU Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC)<\/h3>\n

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) of TNNLU is a specialised academic body committed to advancing the study and practice of ADR mechanisms, including mediation, arbitration, and hybrid processes. The Committee actively engages students through workshops, training programmes, academic initiatives, and national-level competitions.<\/p>\n

About the 7th TNNLU National Med-Arb Competition (NMAC)<\/h3>\n

The 7th TNNLU National Med-Arb Competition (NMAC), organised by TNNLU through its ADRC, invites undergraduate law students from recognised institutions across the world to participate in a rigorous dispute resolution exercise conducted in a hybrid format. The Competition is uniquely centred on Med-Arb, a hybrid mechanism integrating mediation and arbitration within a single structured process. By simulating contemporary dispute resolution practice, the NMAC evaluates participants on a diverse range of skills beyond traditional adversarial advocacy.<\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/h3>\n

The Competition is open to students pursuing three-year LL.B., five-year LL.B., or equivalent undergraduate legal programmes from any recognised institution worldwide, with independent and cross-university teams being permitted to encourage academic diversity and collaboration.<\/p>\n

Registration Fees<\/h3>\n

Selected teams are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee for participation in the Preliminary Rounds, with an additional non-refundable fee payable upon qualification for the Advanced Rounds. The registration fee is fixed at INR ₹6,000 for the Preliminary Rounds and INR ₹15,000 for the Advanced Rounds, subject to pro-rating where only certain participants from a team qualify for the latter stage.<\/p>\n

Mode and Structure of the Competition<\/h3>\n

The Competition shall be conducted in a hybrid format, with the Preliminary Rounds being held online on 7th and 8th February, 2026, followed by the Advanced Rounds conducted offline on 28th and 29th March, 2026. Each Negotiating Team and Mediator-Arbitrator shall be allotted unique identification codes to be used throughout the duration of the Competition.<\/p>\n

Rounds of the Competition<\/h3>\n

The Competition shall progress through multiple stages, including Preliminary Rounds conducted online featuring mediation, arbitration, and arbitral award writing, followed by offline Qualifier, Semi-Final, and Final Rounds, collectively evaluating participants through an integrated Med-Arb framework.<\/p>\n

Qualification Criteria<\/h3>\n

Advancement through the Competition shall be determined through a structured evaluation process, with sixteen Negotiating Teams and sixteen Mediator-Arbitrators qualifying from the Preliminary Rounds, four Negotiating Teams and four Mediator-Arbitrators progressing to the Semi-Final Round, and two Negotiating Teams along with two Mediator-Arbitrators advancing to the Final Round on a knockout basis.<\/p>\n
