These appointments were made in exercise of power under Article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001574957\" target=\"_blank\">217(1)<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002726967\" target=\"_blank\">Constitution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The appointees are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Revati Prashant Mohite Dere<\/span>, Judge of the Bombay High Court, as<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court<\/span> with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office consequent upon transfer of incumbent Chief Justice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo<\/span>, Judge of the Orissa High Court, as <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Chief Justice of the Patna High Court<\/span> with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak<\/span>, Judge of the Bombay High Court, to be <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court<\/span> with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office consequent upon retirement of incumbent Chief Justice on 08-01-2026.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Supreme Court Collegium on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2025\/12\/19\/sc-collegium-recommends-appointment-of-cjs-of-5-high-courts\/\" target=\"_blank\">18-12-2025<\/a> had recommended the appointment of the
