Madhya Pradesh High Court:<\/span> In a writ petition filed regarding the Indore Water Contamination Crisis, the Division Bench of Rajesh Kumar Gupta and B.P. Sharma, JJ., directed the State and Indore Municipal Corporation (“IMC”) to file a detailed status report on the next date of hearing, stating how many persons were affected and admitted in the hospitals and what medical facilities were provided to them.<\/p>\n

Background<\/h3>\n

The petitioner filed the present petition against the State for failing to provide clean and pure drinking water to the residents of Indore City, particularly in Bhagirathpura. He contended that due to the supply of contaminated drinking water, a large number of people were infected, and many people had died. He sought directions that the IMC and State Government shall supply clean water regularly and provide the best treatment to the affected persons immediately.<\/p>\n

The IMC informed the Court that 20 water tankers were supplied in the affected area regularly, and they will ensure that there is no shortage of clean water in Bhagirathpura.<\/p>\n

The State informed that directions were already given to the concerned hospitals and doctors regarding the treatment of affected persons. All patients will receive proper treatment, and the expenses will be borne by the Government. Furthermore, all affected persons will continue to receive better treatment in the future as well.<\/p>\n

Analysis<\/h3>\n

By way of interim measure, the Court directed the IMC to ensure the supply of clean and pure drinking water to the residents of the affected areas and take all possible steps to supply clean water regularly. Regarding the treatment of the affected persons admitted to various hospitals, the Court directed that the State shall take care of them and they would be given the best treatment.<\/p>\n

Noting that IMC had already ensured the supply of clean drinking water in the affected areas and the State had already ensured best medical facilities to the affected people, the Court directed the State and IMC to file a detailed status report on the next date of hearing, stating how many persons were affected and admitted in the hospitals and what medical facilities were provided to them.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, the matter was listed for 02-01-2026 along with another writ petition filed regarding the same issue.<\/p>\n
