About NEXCORD, 2nd CHRIST Treaty Drafting and Negotiation Competition 2026<\/h3>\n

NEXCORD, the 2nd CHRIST Treaty Drafting and Negotiation Competition 2026, organised by the Students of the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, and scheduled for 13 January 2026, with a theme that amalgamates “International Environmental Law” and “International Investment Law.” This unique competition offers students committed to advancing global environmental governance an exciting opportunity to engage in innovative thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and advocacy as they develop effective frameworks for addressing urgent ecological challenges. At a time when the world is grappling with unprecedented environmental issues, international negotiation has become vital for facilitating sustainable development, with regulatory frameworks guiding state behaviour and shaping interactions between nations striving to safeguard the planet’s ecosystems; in this context, treaty drafting emerges as an essential tool for fostering international cooperation and establishing binding commitments that drive meaningful environmental progress. Designed to stimulate critical thinking on governing international environmental issues, the Competition mirrors real-world negotiations and helps participants understand the complexities of multilateral dialogue and the intricacies of drafting impactful legal documents, transforming the experience into more than an academic exercise by offering a platform to influence future environmental law and policy.<\/p>\n

Hybrid (Online and Offline) (Treaties submission will be done online and the top 4 teams qualifying for the semi-final round and top 2 teams qualifying for the final round will have to participate offline)<\/p>\n
