On 20-11-2025, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India<\/span> notified the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025<\/span> to amend the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations, 2016<\/a><\/span>. The provisions came into force on 21-11-2025.<\/p>\n

The amendment introduced a new provision relating to “Number of Assignments”:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. \n

    An Individual Insolvency Professional (not an insolvency professional entity) can handle:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Maximum 10 assignments in total as:<\/p>\n

      ✓ Interim Resolution Professional (‘IRP’);<\/p>\n

      ✓ Resolution Professional (‘RP’) in a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (‘CIRP’);<\/p>\n

      ✓ Liquidator in a liquidation process.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Out of these, not more than 3 assignments<\/span> can involve admitted claims exceeding Rs. 1,000 crore each<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      If an insolvency professional already has more assignments than these limits on the date of enforcement of these regulations, i.e. 21-11-2025, then they cannot take any new assignments<\/span> until their ongoing assignments fall below the specified limits.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
