{"id":367163,"date":"2025-11-19T14:00:41","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T08:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=367163"},"modified":"2025-11-19T14:20:55","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T08:50:55","slug":"sam-nls-fintech-moot-competition-2025-uils-chandigarh-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2025\/11\/19\/sam-nls-fintech-moot-competition-2025-uils-chandigarh-wins\/","title":{"rendered":"SAM- NLS Fintech Moot Competition | UILS, Chandigarh wins Second Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Shardul Amarchand and Mangaldas in collaboration with National Law School of India University organized the FinTech Moot Court Competition with an aim to address emerging issues in fintech regulations, this year&#8217;s moot problem focused on the prohibition of online real money gaming and rules governing fintech influencers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">UILS, Chandigarh have emerged as winners of the Second edition held at the National Law School of India University campus in Bengaluru on November 15-16, 2025.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">A total of 36 teams from law schools across the country registered for the competition, out of which 24 teams qualified for the oral rounds and presented arguments on complex questions related to constitutional, regulatory, and technology laws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The final bench was presided over by a distinguished panel from the legal community consisting of Senior Advocates Siddharth Aggarwal, Shyel Trehan and Raghenth Basant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Speaking at the closing ceremony, Shilpa Mankar Ahluwalia, Co- Head, Banking &amp; Finance at SAM, <\/span>said, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8220;We are thrilled to have successfully completed the second edition of the NLS-SAM Fintech Moot Competition which allows the lawyers of tomorrow to critically engage with real world regulatory issues facing the fintech ecosystem today. We had thought leaders and leading practitioners from the fintech and financial services community join us as judges for the competition and actively engage with the students. The moot competition brings students, professors and practitioners together onto a single platform to engage with policy &amp; legal issues in fintech reflecting our commitment to nurture the next generation of lawyers and to thought leadership.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Prof (Dr) Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, NLS, <\/span>said, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">&#8220;The support of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has made the NLS&#8212;SAM Fintech Moot possible. Alongside the moot court competition, we have also focused on advancing academic research on recent developments in fintech law. The first edition of the moot in 2024 led to a collaboration between NLS and SAM, under which we are preparing White Paper on Asset Tokenisation to be published later this year. We look forward to continued engagement on emerging issues in the year ahead.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">SAM will offer an internship to each member of the winning team as well as to the recipient of the Best Speaker, Best Memorial (Claimant) and Best Memorial (Respondent).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style: italic;\">Moot
