About the Institution:<\/span> Established in 1924, ILS Law College is one of the oldest law schools in India and has been playing a pioneering role in legal education and scholarship in the country. One-hundred and two years since its establishment, the College has acquired the reputation of being a premier institution imparting quality legal education.<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Moot Proposition:<\/span> The moot proposition for the Prof. S.P. Sathe National Moot Court Competition, 2026, centres on housing discrimination based on religion and sexual orientation in private co-operative housing societies. The broader theme of the proposition is horizontal enforcement of fundamental rights. We hope to offer the participants an opportunity to explore intersectional discrimination and understand the nuances of its application in relation to urban housing landscape. We believe that this proposition will bear a close nexus with the practical implications and difficulties of access to justice as a constitutional value.<\/p>\n

The moot proposition has been drafted by Mr. Nihar K. Chitre, Advocate, Bombay High Court and Mr. Vivek K. Sharma, Advocate, Chambers of Cyrus Ardeshir. Mr. Anish Padhye and Ms. Anuradha Lawankar, students of IV BA LLB at ILS Law College, have acted as research assistants to the drafters.<\/p>\n

Theme of the Moot Court Competition:<\/span> The theme of the moot problem is based on Access to Justice.<\/p>\n

Eligibility:<\/span> Students enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s (three-year or five-year or the equivalent of the same in a non-Indian university) law program at the time of the Competition in any Indian or Foreign Law University are eligible to compete in the Competition. Each College\/Law School or University may enroll one team only.<\/p>\n

A team shall be composed of three members: two speakers and one researcher.<\/p>\n
