ABOUT THE ORGANISER<\/h3>\n

The Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra Memorial National Moot Court Competition is an annual event organized by the Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra Memorial Committee in memory of Late Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, revered Senior Advocate and former President of the Orissa High Court Bar Association. Dr. Mohapatra was a stalwart in the legal fraternity, celebrated for his intellect, compassion, and unwavering commitment to mentoring young legal aspirants.<\/p>\n

Since its inception in 2021, the Committee, headquartered in Telengabazar, Cuttack, Odisha has successfully hosted this competition under the guidance of Adv. Haraprasad Panda (Moot Coordinator & Convenor) and his dedicated team comprising Adv. Jeet Swarup Samal, Adv. Bikram Narayan Dash Chaudhury, Prof. Avinash Nanda, Adv. Md. Shayaque Ali, and others.<\/p>\n

The event is conducted as a pro bono initiative, providing law students across the country with an accessible platform to hone their advocacy, research, and analytical skills. Through this noble effort, the Committee continues to uphold Dr. Mohapatra’s legacy of fostering legal excellence and intellectual curiosity.<\/p>\n

Each year, the competition draws participation from reputed law colleges and universities nationwide. Participants have the opportunity to argue before an esteemed panel comprising Young Advocates, Senior Advocates, Judicial Officers, and Hon’ble Judges of various High Courts.<\/p>\n

While all rounds—from Preliminary to Final—are conducted virtually, the Valedictory Ceremony takes place in person at the Orissa High Court Conference Hall, Cuttack, in the presence of Hon’ble Judges and distinguished dignitaries, adding grandeur and authenticity to the event.<\/p>\n

DETAILS ABOUT THE EVENT<\/h3>\n

The 4th Edition (2025) of the Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra Memorial Moot Court Competition focuses on a contemporary and socially relevant legal theme, continuing the Committee’s mission of addressing pressing issues in law and society. The event, to be held from 14th—16th November 2025, promises an intellectually enriching experience under the dynamic coordination of Adv. Haraprasad Panda and his team.<\/p>\n

The competition maintains its tradition of no registration fee, reaffirming its pro bono and inclusive approach—encouraging participation from students across diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n

With a cash prize pool of ₹30,000, alongside trophies, medals, mementos, and certificates, the competition recognizes and celebrates excellence in advocacy, research, and presentation.<\/p>\n

This initiative stands as a tribute to Late Dr. Ashok Kumar Mohapatra’s monumental contributions to the legal fraternity and his vision of nurturing the next generation of competent, ethical, and socially responsible advocates. The Committee also commemorates his legacy through initiatives such as Ashokayan, a publication released in 2022 to immortalize his teachings and contributions.<\/p>\n
