The Centre for Competition Law (CCL) at the Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) is organizing a Special Lecture on the topic “Recent Amendments to the Competition Act, 2002<\/a>”<\/span>. The lecture will take place on Monday, 3rd November 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

The session will be delivered by Shri Kuldeep Kumar, Joint Director (Law) at the Competition Commission of India (CCI), New Delhi. Dr. Kumar is a distinguished legal professional and academic with deep expertise in competition law enforcement and investigation.<\/p>\n

About the Speaker<\/h3>\n

Dr. Kuldeep Kumar holds a Ph.D. from BMU Rohtak, where his research focused on “Investigation Procedures under the Competition Act, 2002<\/a>.”<\/span> He also holds an LL.M. from Kurukshetra University, an LL.B. from Maharishi Dayanand University, and has qualified the UGC-NET examination.<\/p>\n

Before joining the CCI, Dr. Kumar gained over five years of litigation experience (2005—2010) in the private sector. At the CCI, he has played a key role in enforcement and investigation activities, contributing significantly to the Commission’s Investigation Manual. His professional excellence is recognized through several international awards, including from the OECD-Korea Policy Centre Workshop.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kumar also serves as a Member of the Editorial Advisory and Review Board of the Plebs Law Journal<\/span> and has been nominated as an Authorized Officer for criminal complaints as well as Content Manager for the Commission’s Knowledge Management System.<\/p>\n

A widely respected voice in competition law, Dr. Kumar is known for his practice-based insights on investigation procedures, procedural safeguards, and the interface between competition law, public procurement, and intellectual property rights. He has represented the CCI at several major international forums such as BRICS, OECD workshops, the Global Antitrust Institute, and the College of Europe.<\/p>\n

The session will focus on the recent amendments to the Competition Act, 2002<\/a>, which have introduced several important changes in enforcement, regulation, and procedure. These reforms are expected to reshape India’s competition law framework and strengthen the role of the CCI in ensuring fair market practices.<\/p>\n
