The Clinical Legal Education Centre, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, successfully organized a workshop titled “Investigation under BNSS, 2023: Practice & Procedure” on October 17, 2025, through online mode. The session featured Shri Dushyant Sarpal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Himachal Pradesh Police, as the subject and field expert. The workshop formed an integral component of the ongoing HPNLU Trial Advocacy Competition, 2025, aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of criminal investigation procedures and bridging the gap between theoretical and practical aspects of law.<\/p>\n

The interactive workshop provided valuable insights into the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, particularly focusing on its procedural nuances, investigative framework, and its implications for the criminal justice system in India. Shri Sarpal shared his rich professional experience, elucidating practical dimensions of investigation under the new legal regime and emphasizing the importance of procedural compliance in ensuring justice.<\/p>\n

The session witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who engaged in meaningful discussions on contemporary challenges and reforms in criminal investigation.
