The Shirin Paul Ph.D. Scholarship is established to support researchers undertaking doctoral research in animal law. The vision is to foster independent, high-quality research by providing scholars with access to global mentors, world-class resources, and a dynamic intellectual community. It seeks to bridge knowledge gaps and cultivate a body of scholarship that engages with India&#8217;s unique socio-legal landscape to advance social justice and address the triple planetary crisis.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility Criteria<\/h3>\n<p style=\"\">Candidates must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>A <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Master&#8217;s Degree<\/span> or equivalent in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Law, Humanities, Social Sciences<\/span>, or other cognate disciplines from a recognized University, securing not less than 55% marks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>For candidates belonging to SC\/ST\/OBC (Non-creamy layer)\/Persons with disabilities\/EWS, the minimum requirement is 50% marks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Preference<\/span> will be given to candidates with a Postgraduate\/Advanced Diploma or Masters in Animal Protection Laws from NALSAR.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">A <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">demonstrable interest<\/span> in animal welfare or social work is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Recommended Research Areas<\/h3>\n<p>The University is particularly seeking interdisciplinary proposals in new and emerging areas. The selected topic must enable the candidate to make an original contribution to knowledge. Recommended research areas include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Fish Welfare Policy Research.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Gaps in Regulation of Piggeries and Dairy Industry.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Humane Education and National Education Policy (NEP) Values.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Applicants are strongly advised to review Appendix 1 of the official notification to understand the additional research outputs required (e.g., policy briefs, white papers).<\/p>\n<h3>Application and Admission Procedure<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The admission process consists of two stages:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1. Application and Entrance Examination<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Candidates must submit the online application form along with a registration fee of Rs. 2,000\/- (Rs. 1,000\/- for SC\/ST).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Application Deadline:<\/span> 30th October 2025.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Entrance Exam:<\/span> A 3.5-hour online entrance exam will be conducted on <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">15th November 2025<\/span> at 10:00 a.m. The exam will test:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>\n<p>Research Aptitude and Writing Skill (50%).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Disciplinary Knowledge (Animal Laws) (50%).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Exemption from Exam:<\/span> Applicants who have qualified for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">UGC-NET \/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)<\/span> are exempted from the written exam.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">2.
