The University of Lucknow, one of the oldest and most prestigious seats of higher education in India, celebrated its 68th Convocation Ceremony on 10th September 2025 with pride, dignity, and grandeur. The historic event, held at the University campus, was graced by eminent dignitaries, distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and their families, all of whom witnessed an inspiring occasion that marked the culmination of years of academic dedication and hard work.<\/p>\n

The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, renowned structural biologist and former Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as well as Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). In his address, Dr. Mande not only commended the University of Lucknow for its illustrious academic legacy but also motivated the graduating students to embrace the challenges of the future with scientific temper, ethical values, and an innovative mindset. His words resonated deeply with the audience as he emphasized the role of young graduates in shaping the future of the nation.<\/p>\n

The convocation witnessed the awarding of 201 medals to meritorious students, a significant recognition of academic excellence and dedication. A striking highlight of the event was that female students secured nearly 80% of these medals, a remarkable reflection of women’s empowerment and their increasing role in academic and professional spheres. This achievement not only underscored the commitment of women scholars but also symbolized the progressive vision of the University in promoting gender equality in higher education.<\/p>\n

In addition to medals and distinctions, the University conferred degrees upon approximately 25,000 students, marking a milestone in their academic journeys and opening new chapters in their professional lives. Among the many honors, the University awarded the prestigious Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) to Mr. Prashant Kumar, former Director General of Police (DGP), in recognition of his distinguished services and contributions to the field of public administration and law enforcement. His conferment was greeted with resounding applause, as it highlighted the University’s tradition of honoring individuals who have served society with distinction.<\/p>\n

The convocation was held in the gracious presence of the Chancellor, Smt. Anandiben Patel, who in her address congratulated the graduating students and inspired them to work for the betterment of society with integrity and compassion. She reminded them that education is not merely about personal success but also about contributing positively to the nation and humanity. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Manuka Khanna, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the University’s continuous efforts to blend tradition with innovation in its academic endeavors. She highlighted the recent achievements of the University in research, cultural activities, and academic reforms, reiterating her vision to place the University of Lucknow on the global map of higher education.<\/p>\n

The convocation ceremony was the grand finale of the Convocation Week Celebrations, observed from 1st September to 7th September 2025. During this week, the University organized a variety of events including cultural programs, literary competitions, debates, and artistic showcases, which brought together students from diverse disciplines to celebrate their talents and creativity. The week-long celebration not only infused vibrancy into the campus atmosphere but also provided a platform for students to express their cultural richness and intellectual capabilities beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n
