On 8-9-2025, the Delhi Government issued an official order “Engagement of Law Researchers, in High Court of Delhi, and enhancement of their remuneration<\/span>”, marking a significant administrative reform aimed at strengthening judicial support services in the capital. The notification outlines key decisions that will directly impact the functioning of the Delhi High Court<\/span> and the working conditions of Law Researchers.<\/p>\n

Background:<\/h3>\n

The order follows deliberations held on 23-5-2025<\/span> between the Department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs<\/span> and the Hon’ble Committee of the Delhi High Court<\/span>, which was constituted to address infrastructure and staffing needs for the judiciary.<\/p>\n

One of the major concerns raised was the need to increase the number of Law Researchers and enhance their remuneration to reflect the growing complexity of legal proceedings and the workload faced by judges.<\/p>\n

Key highlights of the Notification:<\/h3>\n

    The notification was released by the Department of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs<\/span>, Government of NCT of Delhi.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    It grants permanent approval to Scheme for Engagement of Law Researchers (2018)<\/span>, originally framed by the Delhi High Court<\/span>. This formalizes the structure and continuity of the program, ensuring long-term support for judicial research.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Each Hon’ble Judge of the<\/span> Delhi High Court<\/span> will now be supported by four Law Researchers<\/span>, up from earlier count of three<\/span>. This increase is aimed at improving the quality and depth of legal research available to judges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    The monthly stipend for Law Researchers has been increased from ₹65,000 to ₹80,000<\/span>, effective from 2-9-2025<\/span>. This enhancement reflects the government’s recognition of the critical role played by these professionals in assisting the judiciary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
