<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/hq6Nz7S5\" target=\"_blank\">Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950<\/a><\/span>, the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/LVm2q5VK\" target=\"_blank\">Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992<\/a><\/span> and the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/LVm2q5VK\" target=\"_blank\">Immigration (Carriers&#8217; Liability) Rules, 2007<\/a>.<\/span> The provisions came into force on 1-9-2025.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Points:<\/h3>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025<\/span> comes under the ambit of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/1O25JmBK\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"Hyperlink\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Functions of Immigration Officer:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Regular monitoring of functions at immigration post and meet the set standards;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Examining cases of immigration fraud;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Co-ordinating with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Providing guidance and assistance to individuals navigating the immigration process.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Functions of Bureau of Investigation:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Providing registration services and other visa related services to foreigners;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Implementing provisions of the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2025\/09\/01\/immigration-and-foreigners-act-2024-comes-into-force\/\" target=\"_blank\">Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025<\/a>;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Co-ordinating with the State Governments\/ Union Territories Administrations and other agencies on matters relating to identification, restriction of movement, and deportation;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Administering information technology systems and custodian of data;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Advising the Central Government on policy matters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Functions of Commissioner of Bureau of Immigration:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Administration, vigilance and provisioning matters of Bureau of Investigation;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Handling financial matters;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Monitoring and supervising matters and functions of Immigration officer and of Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Travel documents<\/span> issued under the authority of the Government of a foreign country on which a foreigner seeks entry\/ transits\/ stay\/ exit from India will have to conform to the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>The document should have been issued\/ renewed by the Government of the country of which the person to whom it relates is a national;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The document should have a photograph of the person to whom it relates to and it should be authenticated by the authority issuing the travel document;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The document should have an appropriate category of valid visa permitting the foreigner.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Authorities authorized to grant or cancel visa:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>Ministry of External Affairs including Indian Missions or Consulates abroad;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Bureau of Immigration.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Certificate of Registration:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>It will be granted once the Registration Officer is satisfied that the information provided is correct and complete.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>It will indicate the period for which the foreigner is authorized to stay in India and will also enlist the places of stay in India if mentioned on the visa.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The period of the stay can be restricted by the Registration Officer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Obligations on the foreigner who has been granted the Certificate of Registration:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>\n<p>The foreigner should not visit any other place in India unless he has obtained specific permission from the Registration Officer;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The foreigner should inform his arrival and departure to the Registration Officer within 24 hours after his arrival or intended departure;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The foreigner should depart before the expiry of the period allowed to stay in India unless he seeks permission from the Registration Officer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-style:
