On 1-9-2025, the President of India in exercise of the power conferred by Article 217(1)<\/a> of the Constitution<\/a>, appointed Advocate Arun Kumar<\/span>, to be a Judge of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Advocate Arun Kumar on 9-5-2023<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a>. The Collegium then led by former CJI D.Y. Chandrachud and senior Judges, Justice Sanjay Kishan and Justice K.M Joseph, observed that the Advocate Arun Kumar’s name had been considered by the Collegium on 17-1-2023, but they had deferred the proposal for his elevation in view of the report of the Intelligence Bureau. On 03-5-2023, the Department of Justice forwarded to the Supreme Court a report of the Intelligence Bureau stating that they do not have any additional inputs in addition to the earlier inputs.<\/p>\n

The Collegium led by the then CJI had observed that Advocate Arun Kumar over 25 years of practice at the Bar and has experience of conducting wide range of cases before the High Court in constitution, civil and revenue jurisdiction. Hence the Collegium had recommended his name for elevation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
