{"id":358622,"date":"2025-09-01T18:00:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T12:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=358622"},"modified":"2025-09-05T09:38:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T04:08:08","slug":"why-sc-directed-seizure-of-steno-book-hc-judge-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2025\/09\/01\/why-sc-directed-seizure-of-steno-book-hc-judge-secretary\/","title":{"rendered":"Know why Supreme Court directed seizure of the steno book of a High Court Judge\u2019s secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Supreme Court:<\/span> While considering a Special Leave Petition (SLP) revolving around non-uploading of the impugned order rejecting grant of anticipatory bail on the website of Punjab and Haryana High Court as per previous directions of the Supreme Court, the Division Bench of J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi, JJ., directed that the steno book of the High Court Judge&#8217;s Secretary to be seized in order to find that on which date the impugned order was typed and corrected on P.C.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court also directed to hold a discreet inquiry, and the report of P.C., regarding typing and uploading from NIC to be collected and the details filed on the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The instant SLP came before the Court on 16-8-2025 along with an application seeking permission to file special leave petition without certified copy as well as plain copy of the impugned order indicating that the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">impugned order dated 31-07-2025 had not been uploaded on the website of the High Court<\/span>. The matter was heard again on 20-8-2025, wherein it was noted that the impugned order had still not been uploaded. Therefore, the Court sought report from the Registrar General of the High Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court perused the Report sent by the High Court&#8217;s Registrar General and noted that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">it appeared that impugned order was not passed on 31-7-2025, in fact, it was passed after the order by Supreme Court<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Therefore, the Court directed the seizure of the Secretary&#8217;s steno book and issued notice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">[<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #632423;\">Ajay Maini v.
