Dr. Saxena, with her vast expertise in diverse areas of law including Family Law, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023<\/a>, Civil Procedure Code, 1908<\/a>, Labour Laws, Jurisprudence, Matrimonial Remedies, Personal Laws on Marriage, Prevention of Corruption Act, and the POSH Act, 2013<\/a>, provided the audience with an insightful overview of one of the most pertinent issues in contemporary workplaces.<\/p>\n

In her lecture, she elaborated on the statutory framework of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013<\/a>, while emphasizing its relevance in ensuring gender justice and workplace safety. She meticulously highlighted the role and responsibilities of the Internal Committee (IC) under the Act, defining its preventive, redressal, and punitive functions. Dr. Saxena also discussed in detail what constitutes “sexual harassment”<\/span> under the law, thereby providing much-needed clarity on the subject.<\/p>\n

Further, she referred to the UGC Guidelines aimed at preventing harassment within higher educational institutions, stressing the accountability of institutes to foster a safe environment. Importantly, she also touched upon the possible misuse of provisions and how institutions can adopt balanced mechanisms to ensure fairness to all parties involved.<\/p>\n

The lecture was followed by a highly interactive session where faculty members, research scholars, and students actively participated, raising relevant queries and sharing perspectives. The lively discussion enabled the participants to engage deeply with both the theoretical and practical dimensions of workplace harassment laws.<\/p>\n

The session concluded with Prof. R. K. Verma, Dean, Faculty of Law, delivering his remarks. He appreciated Dr. Saxena for her comprehensive and thought-provoking discourse, and encouraged students and scholars to critically examine legal frameworks in light of real-world challenges.<\/p>\n

The Departmental Lecture Series continues to serve as a significant initiative of the Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, fostering an environment of scholarly dialogue and bridging the gap between doctrinal legal studies and practical applications in society.<\/p>\n
