{"id":357578,"date":"2025-08-23T12:30:37","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T07:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/?p=357578"},"modified":"2025-08-27T10:12:54","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T04:42:54","slug":"consider-ex-crpfs-appointment-in-ex-servicemen-category-ph-hc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2025\/08\/23\/consider-ex-crpfs-appointment-in-ex-servicemen-category-ph-hc\/","title":{"rendered":"Punjab and Haryana High Court orders State to consider ex-CRPF\u2019s plea for appointment in Ex-servicemen category"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\">\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Punjab and Haryana High Court:<\/span> In a petition filed by the petitioner under Articles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001574969\" target=\"_blank\">226<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0001574971\" target=\"_blank\">227<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink.aspx?q=JTXT-0002726967\" target=\"_blank\">Constitution<\/a> seeking a direction to the respondent to appoint him to the post of Male Constable (Driver), a Single Judge Bench of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Jagmohan Bansal, J.<\/span>, disposed of the same and held that the State would look into grievance of the petitioner of his appointment in ex-servicemen category and pass an appropriate order within six months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">In the present case, the petitioner contended that he had served in the CRPF, however, was denied appointment under the Ex-servicemen category. Before this, the petitioner had filed a petition which was dismissed on merits and Letters Patent Appeal was withdrawn with liberty to make representation before the respondent-authorities regarding inclusion of the petitioner in the category of Ex-Servicemen. The petitioner claimed that he filed representation and thus, contended that the present petition was maintainable because the respondent had not decided his representation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court opined that it could not decide question of inclusion of retired officials of Paramilitary Forces (CRPF, BSF, CISF etc.) in the definition of Ex-Serviceman. It was a policy matter, and the State had to decide the issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">The Court disposed of the petition and ordered the State to look into the grievance of the petitioner and pass an appropriate order within six months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">[<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #632423;\">Makhan Singh v.
