On 2-7-2025, the Department of Posts<\/span> has issued a directive \u2018Merger of Registered post with Speed post\u2019<\/span>, officially announcing that the Registered Post service will be discontinued.<\/span> With the aim to streamline the mail transmission process and unify features across services, the Government has taken this decision to eliminate duplication in services and enhance operational efficiency. This strategic decision, set to take effect from 1-9-2025<\/span>, marking a significant transformation in India\u2019s postal framework.<\/p>\n

Key Points of merger of Registered Post with Speed Post:<\/h3>\n

From the effective date, Speed Post will absorb all critical functionalities of Registered Post<\/span>, including secure transmission, delivery to the addressee only, proof of delivery, and acknowledgement of receipt. Thus, all customers who previously depended on Registered Post<\/span> for secure and accountable mail services will now avail the same assurance through Speed Post<\/span>.<\/li>\n
  2. To ensure a smooth transition, the directive mandates that all units engaged in mail operations, counter services, customer support, and software management must urgently initiate compliance measures. These involve completing all necessary software reconfigurations and document updates by 31-7-2025<\/span>, ensuring uniformity in service nomenclature and operational protocol.<\/li>\n
  3. To support the transition, all relevant service menus, booking options, reference materials, and templates must be updated. Any document, website, receipt, or form currently mentioning \u2018Registered Post\u2019 will be revised to refer exclusively to \u2018Speed Post.\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Detailed instructions have been circulated for staff training, customer awareness, and system updates. These measures are designed to prevent confusion and ensure a smooth changeover for both employees and the public.<\/li>\n
  5. With this merger, Speed Post will now handle all mail services that previously relied on Registered Post.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. The benefits include reliable tracking, faster delivery times, and enhanced service features, making Speed Post the go-to solution<\/span> for sending items that require documentation and delivery confirmation.<\/li>\n
