This move aims to foster a safer, more secure learning environment by enhancing vigilance through advanced surveillance technologies.<\/p>\n<h3>Key points:<\/h3>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\">\n<li>To ensure a cohesive and secure school environment, CBSE has revised <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Chapter 4<\/span> of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018<\/span> of the Board, introducing <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Clause 4.7.10<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>By revising Chapter 4, CBSE increases institutional accountability and responsibility of the schools install camera:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Entry and exit gates<\/li>\n<li>Classrooms, corridors, staircases<\/li>\n<li>Laboratories, libraries, canteens<\/li>\n<li>Playgrounds, storerooms, and other common areas<\/li>\n<li>Toilets and washrooms are excluded to protect student privacy are expressly excluded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These CCTV cameras will be equipped with <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">real-time audio-visual recordings<\/span> and these recorded footages from these cameras will be retained for a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">minimum of fifteen days<\/span> and made readily available to relevant authorities upon request.<\/li>\n<li>This mandate of CBSE aligns with guidelines by the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">National Commission for Protection of Child Rights<\/span> (\u2018<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">NCPCR<\/span>\u2019) for safer environment of students at school defined under \u2018<span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">School Safety<\/span>\u2019. NCPCR\u2019s manual on safety and security of children under Clause 1(X) states that \u2018<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">CCTV in schools needs to be monitored and maintained regularly<\/span>.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>CBSE highlights that student safety is a multifaceted obligation of the schools, which includes protection of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">physical, emotional, psychological<\/span> wellbeing of students.<\/li>\n<li>Through this initiative, CBSE emphasizes that surveillance technologies serve as a preventive mechanism and proactive tool to nurture trust, safety, and institutional transparency and discourage any means of misconduct or threat to students.<\/li>\n<li>CBSE has directed <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">all affiliated institutions<\/span> need to implement this Amendment in letter and spirit, ensuring the CCTV cameras are installed, monitored and maintained
