About CLS<\/h3>\n

The Constitutional Law Society (\u2018CLS\u2019) is an academic society constituted in 2012 by interested students and our faculty advisor, the former Vice-Chancellor, to assist in understanding Constitutional Law. Its objective is to further knowledge and create a supportive environment for academic discussions and thoughts about constitutional matters. The CLS has successfully organised several events, including quizzes, mock parliaments, and discussions by eminent scholars on topics of constitutional law of contemporary as well as historical relevance. In the past, we have hosted luminaries in the field, such as K.K. Venugopal, Upendra Baxi, and Catherine MacKinnon, among others.<\/p>\n

About NUJS<\/h3>\n

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999<\/a> (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July, 1999. NUJS is considered one of the best amongst the elite national law schools in India built on the five-year law degree model proposed and implemented by the Bar Council of India. The university offers a five-year integrated B.A.\/BSc. LLB (Hons.) degree programme at the undergraduate level and a Master of Laws (LLM) programme at the postgraduate level. The Chief Justice of India is the Chancellor of NUJS and is also the Chairman of the General Council, the supreme policy-making body of the University. Prof. (Dr.) Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti is the Vice Chancellor of the University.<\/p>\n

The Constitutional Law Society of the West Bengal University of Juridical Sciences is pleased to open applications for submissions to its blog<\/a>. These can be in the form of opinion pieces on contemporary developments in the realm of constitutional law or its intersection with other disciplines, and areas of law or informative posts on upcoming petitions to convey a review of developments in such matters so far.\u00a0Please peruse our archives under the Articles & Discussions tab, and the Court Watch tab respectively on our blog website for examples of each.<\/p>\n

    The preferred method of referencing is through embedded hyperlinks within the text; the use of footnotes should be reserved strictly for instances where hyperlinking is impracticable or\u00a0insufficient. In such cases the footnotes should be as per the NUJS Law Review citation standard<\/a>. These submissions must not be previously published or under consideration elsewhere. Submissions are on a rolling basis presently.<\/p>\n

    The submissions must be made to nujs.cls@gmail.com<\/a>. Any posts submitted will be reviewed by the team to check quality of arguments, structure and citations, prior to publication and may be accepted or rejected on any such grounds.<\/p>\n
