Juvenile Justice Board, Pune:<\/span> The Juvenile Justice Board (\u2018JJB\u2019) rejected the State\u2019s plea to prosecute the accused boy, who was 17-year-old at the time of the Accident, as an adult in the Pune Porsche Accident case. The JJB ruled that the accused will be tried as a minor under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, as per the norm.<\/p>\n

Background<\/h3>\n

In 2024, a case was registered at the Yerawada Police Station wherein a 17-year-old boy was accused of killing two individuals in a speeding Porsche, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The minor was charged with various sections of the Penal Code, 1860<\/a>, including Section 279, 304-A, 337 and certain other provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Previously, the JJB cancelled the bail<\/a> and remanded the minor to the Children Observation Centre in Pune, citing the severity of the crime, public sentiment surrounding the case, gravity of the offense and mounting public outcry.<\/p>\n
