NLUJ has constantly been ranked as one of the top law schools in India. NLUJ\u2019s CLS was established in 2014, with the primary objective of fostering discussions related to corporate law. Amongst other activities, CLS conducts the Pranita Mehta Memorial Essay Writing Competition [\u201cEssay Competition\u201d] annually in memory of Late Ms. Pranita Mehta, an exceptional student of NLUJ. An epitome of excellence and diligence, Ms. Pranita had been a part of the CLS since its inception and was associated with the Society as an Adviser in 2016.<\/p>\n<h3>About the 9th Edition of the Competition:<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">This year, the themes of the competition revolve around extremely contemporary and interesting developments within the corporate law sphere, thereby providing students with wide scope for stimulating and innovative arguments.<\/p>\n<h3>The topics are as follows<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Downstream Investments By FOCCS: Regulatory Challenges and the Way Forward<\/li>\n<li>The Great Indian IPO Rush In Light of the 2025 SEBI ICDR Amendments<\/li>\n<li>Simplifying Cross-Border Equity Swaps: A Corporate Law Perspective on the 2024 Amendments to FEMA (Non-debt Instruments) Rules<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening Corporate Transparency in India: Legal and Regulatory Challenges in Enforcing Significant Beneficial Ownership Norms<\/li>\n<li>Data as an Insolvency Asset in the Digital Age: Balancing Data Valuation, Asset Maximisation under the IBC and DPDP Act.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Minority Shareholder Activism and the Case for the Application of the Business Judgment Rule in Indian Jurisprudence<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The prizes are as follows<\/h3>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Prize money:<\/span>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>1<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">st<\/span> Prize = Rs. 50,000<\/li>\n<li>2<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">nd<\/span> Prize = Rs. 30,000<\/li>\n<li>3<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">rd<\/span> Prize = Rs. 20,000<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Internship with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas<\/span>: CLS is delighted to announce its association with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as its Knowledge Partner for the Competition. The top 3 winners of the Competition will receive internship opportunities with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Publication with Journal on Corporate Law and Governance<\/span>: CLS has collaborated with the well-reputed Journal on Corporate Law and Governance, which publishes on contemporary corporate law issues. JCLG will be exclusively publishing the winning essay of the Competition.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Merit certificates<\/span>: The top 10 essays will also receive merit certificates.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Important Dates<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Submission: Participants must submit their essays to CLS by 20<span style=\"vertical-align: super;\">th<\/span> July, 2025. To submit, <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/iPz7ud6CUkSFjuKPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Submission Guidelines<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Submission shall be made only in MS-Word format (.doc\/.docx). PDF form shall not be accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Formatting Guidelines:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Font and Size of Main Text and Footnote:<\/span> Times New Roman, 12 Point for main text, and Times New Roman, 10 Point for footnotes.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Size and Alignment:<\/span> A4 Size with 1 Inch Margin; all text except headings should be justified.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Footnoting:<\/span> The participant has to adopt a uniform style of citation throughout the document.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Spacing:<\/span> Submission should be 1.5 spaced (except footnotes which may be single spaced).<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Word Limit:<\/span> Word limit of the submission is 2500 &#8211; 3500 words (excluding abstract and footnotes). Abstract should not be more than 300 words.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Plagiarism:<\/span> Any submission that is found to be plagiarized beyond 15% shall be disqualified from the competition.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anonymity:<\/span> Participant shall not include his\/her name in the submission\u2019s text in any form.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Co-Authorship:<\/span> Co-authorship, up to two people, is allowed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any previously published entry would not be permitted.<\/li>\n<li>Copyright of the submission shall remain with CLS.<\/li>\n<li>In case of any conflicts, CLS shall be the final authority on the guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>In case a participant is submitting an assignment\/project, which has been submitted to their university&#8217;s Turnitin repository, CLS requires the participants to submit the associated<\/li>\n<li>Turnitin report via email indicating that the plagiarism percent is less than 15%.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">No registration fee is required to participate in the competition<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Queries<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">For further details, kindly find attached the brochure for the Competition.
