Chandurkar\u2019s Education<a id=\"fnref1\" href=\"#fn1\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Justice Atul Sharachchandra Chandurkar received his schooling at St. Vincent\u2019s High School in Pune. Subsequently, he pursued higher education, earning a degree in Commerce from Ness Wadia College, Pune. His academic pursuits culminated in acquiring his law degree from ILS Law College in Pune, marking the commencement of his distinguished legal career.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-weight: bold; font-size: 14.0pt; color: #c00000;\">Justice A.S. Chandurkar\u2019s career as an Advocate<a id=\"fnref2\" href=\"#fn2\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">Justice A.S. Chandurkar commenced his legal career on 21-07-1988, at the chambers of Shri Bhimrao Naik, a highly respected Senior Advocate in Mumbai, who was subsequently elevated as a Judge of the Bombay High Court. In January 1992, Justice Chandurkar shifted his practice to Nagpur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">His advocacy was predominantly focused on civil litigation, involving appearances across various judicial fora, including trial and appellate courts. Chandurkar*<\/span> and Rajesh S. The candidates were required to submit their online applications by 14-05-2024, however, the petitioner submitted his application on 09-06-2024. The petitioner contended that he should be permitted to participate in the admission process based on the All-India Rank (\u201cAIR\u201d) 10 that he had secured in the IISER Aptitude Test 2024 (\u201centrance test\u201d). The Court stated that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">the grant of such relief would be an injustice to the other applicants who were similarly situated<\/span> as the petitioner and who could not submit their applications in time as well. Therefore, no relief was granted by the Court and the petition was dismissed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scconline.com\/blog\/post\/2024\/05\/09\/bhc-dismisses-plea-challenging-its-rules-for-presentation-conduct-of-proceedings-in-person-by-parties-legal-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bombay High Court dismisses plea challenging its \u201cRules for Presentation and Conduct of Proceedings in Person by Parties\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 3%;\">In <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Naresh Govind Vaze<\/span> v. <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">High Court of Bombay<\/span>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/I2jzWgAG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 SCC OnLine Bom 1266<\/a>, petitioner, a Law Graduate and a former Judicial Officer, raised a challenge to the Notification dated 9-9-2015 notifying the \u201cRules for Presentation and Conduct of Proceedings in Person by Parties\u201d (\u2018the Rules\u2019) on the ground that the Rules prevent a party-in-person from appearing before the Court and arguing his\/her case in person. The Division Bench of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">A.S. Chandurkar*<\/span> and Jitendra Jain, JJ., held that the bar was not absolute, and the Rules were merely regulatory in nature. The Court opined that the Rules were not prohibitive to offend the provisions of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scconline.com\/DocumentLink\/Uei3bEDC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Articles 14 and 19(1)(a) of the Constitution<\/a>, and the Rules were framed to enable the presentation and conduct of proceedings by a party in person smoothly to facilitate the administration of justice.
