On 23-6-2025, the Ministry of Finance<\/span> notified \u2018Debts Recovery Tribunals and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals Electronic Filing (Amendment) Rules, 2025\u2019<\/span> to introduce digitalisation way of filing before Debt Recovery Tribunals (\u2018DRTs\u2019) and Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunals (\u2018DRATs\u2019), marking as a major reform in debt recovery framework. These Rules came into effect from 23-6-2025.<\/p>\n

Key points:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. These Amendment Rules aim to update the existing framework under the Debts Recovery Tribunals and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal Electronic Filing Rules, 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. As per the amended Rule 4<\/span>, all legal pleadings must now be submitted electronically, using the government\u2019s designated platform.<\/li>\n
  3. The ministry will make e-filing the default and mandatory method<\/span> for submitting pleadings before DRTs and DRATs<\/span>, a significant step towards streamlining and modernizing the adjudication of financial disputes.<\/li>\n
  4. All pleadings under major financial legislations, including the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993<\/a><\/span> and the SARFAESI Act, 2002<\/a><\/span>, must now be filed through the official e-DRT portal<\/span>.<\/li>\n
