Supreme Court:<\/span> On 18-6-2025, the partial working days Bench of Sandeep Mehta and Prasanna B. Varale, JJ., granted interim relief to Kerala based journalist Nandakumar T.P. in connection of publishing defamatory content against a former CPIM politician in his YouTube Channel “Crime Online”.<\/p>\n

The Division Bench further issued notice in an anticipatory bail plea filed by Nandakumar T.P. and stated that in the event of arrest, he shall be enlarged on bail by the trial court upon furnishing bail bonds to the satisfaction of the investigating officer and that he would cooperate in the investigation.<\/p>\n

An FIR was registered against Nandakumar under Sections 75<\/a>(1)(iv) 79<\/a> and 351<\/a>(1)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023<\/a> (BNS) along with Section 67<\/a> of the Information Technology Act, 2000<\/a>, after he was accused of publishing a YouTube video on his channel “Crime Online” targeting a woman politician from CPIM.<\/p>\n

On 9-6-2025, the Kerala High Court had directed Nandakumar to surrender before Police, however, he approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s refusal to grant relief.<\/p>\n
